An e-mail has been sent out from the Kingsgrove Community team, aka St. Modwen as master developer, regarding the opening of the first phase of the Wantage Eastern Link Road (WELR).

St. Modwen is pleased to say that the first stage of the Wantage Eastern Link Road (WELR) is opening from Friday 17 November. It will link the A417 into the Kingsgrove neighbourhood, via Rutherford Road.
As planned, the opening of WELR1 will allow the current entrance at Elder Way to become a ‘bus gate’, solely for buses and cyclists, promoting the use of public and sustainable transport for residents. The bus gate will be operated via an ANPR camera. This is not yet in operation, and the Elder Way entrance is still currently in use.
We will be writing to all residents in advance of the change, and it will be clearly signposted.
We anticipate the remainder of the WELR (phases 2 and 3) will open in summer 2024, reducing traffic congestion on the rural roads and through Wantage town centre.
