Outline planning permission for Fullers Field has been granted

At the meeting of the Vale of White Horse District Council Planning Committee on Wednesday 20 August, the application for outline planning permission for up to 59 dwellings on Fullers Field was unanimously approved.

The application went to the committee stage because Wantage Town Council had put in an objection. However, no one from the Town Council attended the meeting to explain their objection. As a result, the only representation, other than the planning officer herself, was from Nicky Brock, the agent for the applicant.

The only questions from the councillors themselves concerned drainage, both runoff and waste, but was mainly making sure that the Letcombe Brook side of the development wouldn’t be adversely affected.

As for the main thread of objections put forward regarding the access to the site from Primrose Avenue, that was swept aside with merely a statement to the effect of ‘the highways team has inspected the plans and have no objections‘.

As they weren’t material planning considerations, no mention or discussion took place about service charges and access to amenities.

However, I am trying desperately to contact the master developer for Kingsgrove in the hope of persuading them to only allow access over land managed by the Kingsgrove Estate Management Company in exchange for an agreement that any future residents of Fullers Field would contribute comparable service charges to the Kingsgrove Estate Management Company as current residents do. I have not received an adequate response to my queries but will continue trying.

In short, it is likely to be a disappointing result for many residents of Kingsgrove. From what I have read and understood from the application itself and the report from the planning officer, even if representation from Wantage Town Council had been made in the meeting, I doubt that it would have made any difference.
