Lagging somewhat behind Apple Maps, the satellite view of Google Maps has finally been updated to include a lot more of Kingsgrove. Whereas the previous view only had Phase 1a and some of Appletons / Cherry Croft, the new view encompasses most of what has been built so far, meaning it must have been done relatively recently.
what3words
For those of you living on very newly completed parts of Kingsgrove, the fact that Google has updated its satellite view of Kingsgrove has a great side effect.
what3words is an ingenious mapping solution that has divided the whole of the surface into squares of 3m by 3m, assigning each a set of three words. This set of words is unique to each square. For example, ///ambushed.contexts.lately is the King Alfred statue in Wantage’s town centre and ///reporter.smoker.received is the centre spot in the Stade de France.
The what3words underlying satellite view is supplied by Google. This means it is now much easier for people in Kingsgrove to be able to identify the three word code that uniquely identifies their house. Some online retailers even allow what3words entries to be used as delivery address.
