Further delays to installation of lighting bollards between Phases 1a and 1b

Unfortunately, we have been made aware of yet further delays to the installation of the lighting bollards between Phases 1a and 1b. They were due to be installed this week (w/c 16 December) but will now not be installed before early January.

The following is a letter from Preim:

We are writing to provide an update regarding the replacement of the lighting bollards (between phases 1A and 1B) originally scheduled for installation w/c 16th December. Unfortunately, we have been informed by our contractor that the bollard manufacturer has experienced a further delay. The bollards are now expected to arrive in the first or second week of January 2025.

We understand that this news will be frustrating, especially given how long these works have been awaited. To provide further transparency, we have outlined the timeline of events leading to the current situation:

May 2024: The original bollards were vandalised. Upon review, it was noted that the quality of the bollards may have contributed to their susceptibility to damage.

June 2024 – August 2024: Discussions took place between St Modwen, Preim, and the Residents Working Group. It was agreed that the bollards would be replaced via insurance, with St Modwen funding the cost difference for a higher specification bollard to ensure durability.

29th August 2024: A meeting was held on-site with loss adjustors to finalise plans. The works were approved, and orders were placed shortly thereafter.

Late October 2024: The installation was initially scheduled; however, delays occurred due to incomplete availability of the bollards.

November 2024: A revised delivery date was confirmed, with installation planned for w/c 16th December.

December 2024: The manufacturer notified us of further delays related to the coating and painting process. As this coincides with the Christmas break, installation is now scheduled for early January 2025.

While the manufacturer has offered a reduction in the cost of the works due to these delays, we recognise this does not address the inconvenience caused to residents, particularly those affected by the lack of lighting on the pathway between 1A and 1B. We share your disappointment, as the manufacturer was selected based on their initially promising lead times.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this matter. Please rest assured that Preim, on behalf of Kingsgrove Estate Management Company Limited, is continuing to monitor the situation closely to ensure the works are completed as soon as possible.
